Pate Reminds Iowans of Current Process

By Ellis Codjoe, March 14, 2019

Currently, felons in Iowa who have finished their sentence have to personally apply to the Governor to have their voting rights restored.

While Governor Reynolds wishes to change that, Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate informed Iowans that the present process has been streamlined:

“The process of having your voting rights restored by the Governor is not complicated. I encourage felons who want to vote to look at the process and take the necessary steps.”

Pate also mentioned that felons from other states that had their voting rights reinstated are eligible to vote in Iowa.
