It’s a long way from Ottumwa, Iowa to being the head football coach at a Power-5 school, but that’s a journey Chris Ash completed last offseason when he was named to the head job at Rutgers. Perhaps appropriately, his first Big 10 Conference game as the head coach takes place this Saturday against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Rutgers is 2-1 through Ash’s first three games, and the Scarlet Knights have bounced back from a season-opening loss at Washington to post two straight wins. Ash says he’s proud of his team’s tenacity.
Ash says Iowa’s talent at quarterback and in the trenches are qualities he wants his Rutgers team to emulate.
Ash says the only way his Scarlet Knights will have a chance against Iowa is to match the Hawkeyes’ physicality on both sides of the ball.
Iowa kicks off at Rutgers at 11:00 Saturday morning Central Time. ESPN2 has the TV broadcast. Updates can be heard twice an hour on 101.5 Kiss FM.
