Ottumwa YMCA: Everyone Must Wear Masks

In light of Governor Reynolds’ recent proclamation on Tuesday that places new restrictions on indoor and outdoor gatherings, the Ottumwa YMCA announced new parameters that line up with the decree from the governor.

Effective immediately, all staff, members, and visitors of the YMCA over the age of 3 will be required to wear a face-covering or face shield while in the facility. Exceptions to this rule include anyone swimming, showering, using a sauna, taking part in vigorous activity, or unable to do so because of health reasons. When the Ottumwa YMCA reopened in May, the staff was required to wear face masks. The choice of wearing a face-covering was optional for members and guests.

Members and guests are strongly encouraged to maintain social distancing while in the building and using the hand sanitizer provided.

Everyone will have their temperature checked before entering the facility. Anyone with a temperature above 100.5 degrees will not be allowed to enter.

Interim CEO Garrett Ross also asks that anyone experiencing symptoms of the virus such as fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, etc. not to come to the YMCA until they are symptom free.
