Ottumwa Woman Wins Lottery Prize

Deena Arndt of Ottumwa usually buys a Crossword lottery ticket but a couple weeks ago, she switched her routine. Because of that, Arndt is $50,000 richer.

Last week, the Iowa Lottery reported Arndt was the latest winner of the Iowa Lottery’s “Struck By Luck” scratch game. Arndt bought the winning ticket at the BP station on Richmond Avenue in Ottumwa but she didn’t really feel lucky.

“I thought, ‘Oh, I’m not going to win anything,’ so I just went ahead and scratched the code and scanned it on my phone.  And it said, ‘Congratulations, you’re a winner: $50,000.’ And I thought, ‘That cannot be right! I’m not reading it right.'”

Arndt played the ticket, found out that she was indeed a winner and returned to the store to have it verified.

Arndt told the Iowa Lottery that she plans on using the prize money to help others. She also wants to take a trip to New Mexico and visit friends.
