An Ottumwa woman is $100,000 richer thanks to a lottery scratch game.
Cheryl Rump bought a “$100,000 Mega Crossword” scratch ticket last week, but when she got home and scratched the ticket, she had to call her daughter to make sure she was really looking at a winner.
“I ended up having to call my daughter for verification,” said the retired school food service worker. “She called me back and said, ‘Mom, I think you’ve won $100,000!'”
Rump claimed her prize this week, and had a hard time explaining what winning a big prize was like.
“It’s one of those times when you don’t know what word to use,” she said. “I’m excited. I’m tickled. I don’t know what the word is to describe this feeling.”
Rump says she plans to use her winnings to buy a new car and remodel her home.
