An Ottumwa woman was arrested amid allegations that she threatened a witness and asked another witness to lie in court in exchange for money.
37-year-old Laquatta Ingram has been charged with suborning perjury, a Class D felony, and tampering with a witness, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Court documents say sometime between April and August of this year, Ingram made threats toward witnesses in a domestic abuse case in which her son is the defendant. Ingram threatened physical harm and also called the Department of Human Services against the witnesses.
In a separate incident between this May and August, Ottumwa police say Ingram offered to pay a material witness money in exchange for the witness lying in court. The individual is a witness in a felony burglary case involving Ingram’s son.
A warrant for Ingram’s arrest was issued on August 24th and she was taken into custody on the same day.
Ingram was transported to the Wapello County Jail. She is currently free after posting a $7,000 bond.
