Ottumwa’s TestIowa site will close Wednesday, according to Wapello County health officials.
The TestIowa site originated at The Beach Ottumwa on May 13th. On May 30th, the site was relocated to Evans Middle School. Both locations have given residents access to drive through testing for COVID-19.
Wapello County Emergency Management Coordinator Tim Richmond expressed hope over previous weeks that the TestIowa site would remain open. However, the decision has been made to end operations at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24.
According to a press release, Wapello County residents who have symptoms of the virus will still be able to contact local healthcare providers and follow instructions from the providers in order to be tested for COVID-19.
Wapello County has 670 positive cases of the virus, according to the county’s last report. 640 residents have recovered. 28 people have died from COVID-19 in Wapello County.
