A Long standing store in the Quincy Place Mall will be closing by the end of March. The Radio Shack store is slated to be closed by March 31st. On Saturday, Radioshack released a list of more than 1700 stores nationwide that will be closed as part of its bankruptcy procedures. 14 stores in Iowa are on the chopping block, including stores in Ankeny, Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Des Moines, Marshalltown, Mason City, Newton, Ottumwa, Sioux City, Waterloo and West Des Moines.
RadioShack says that it will sell about half of it’s 4000 stores. Some of them will stay open and become co-branded with Sprint, and about 1,700 stores will close.
Ottumwa’s store will remain open later than most, of the stores closing, more than 1000 will be closed before Feb. 28th. Ottumwa’s store has been given until March 31st. Stores in Ankeny and Sioux City are slated to be closed before Feburary 17th.
The manager of Ottumwa’s Radioshack declined to comment when contacted by KBIZ.
