Ottumwa Sends Out Household Hazardous Waste Reminder

By Ellis Codjoe, July 13, 2018

The City of Ottumwa submitted a news release on Friday to remind residents that propane and other cylinders that are used to hold gases, pesticides, etc. cannot be placed in the recycling bin or trash cart. Propane is 270 times more explosive than gasoline, according to the release.

Small propane tanks can be brought to the Recycling Center, where they can be properly handled. This service is free. Anyone with questions or concerns can call the Recycling Center at 683-0684.
