Ottumwa Schools to Have Second Preschool Registration

By Ellis Codjoe, April 18, 2018

Pickwick Early Childhood Center will be hosting a second preschool registration on Friday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ottumwa Community Preschool, located in the former Agassiz Elementary building at 608 E. Williams. Staff will be present to assist in the registration process.

Ottumwa Schools will open the new Pickwick Early Childhood Center in August and will provide early childhood education for three and four year old children from Monday to Thursday at no cost. Wrap around care before and after the instructional day will be included, with the school open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fee-based options will be available to parents seeking daycare on Fridays.

Registration is for parents who were unable to attend the first registration held in March. Children who will turn three or four years-old by September 15, 2018 are eligible to attend. Parents are encouraged to register early to ensure their child can attend this preschool, which will be free of charge. Parents need to verify:  1) their child’s birth by bringing a birth certificate, passport, or Title XIX card;  and 2) family income by bringing either their 2017 tax returns or 2017 W-2s.
