An Ottumwa couple have been arrested as part of an investigation into a report of child abuse.
According to a press release from the Ottumwa Police Department, on Saturday, June 20, at approximately 11:07 a.m., officers with the police department along with a representative of the Iowa DHS responded to a report of suspected child abuse at a residence on E. Main Street in Ottumwa. At the scene, a female child, age 2, was found to have many bruises on her head and body. The child was transported to a local hospital for a medical examination at the request of police and DHS personnel. Arrangements were made for the other children living at the residence to stay with relatives while the investigation is ongoing.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Ottumwa Police arrested the child’s mother and her boyfriend as a result of the investigation. The suspects have been identified as 28 year old Ashley Karen Lindley-Mosher and 24 year old Donald Vincent Graham. They have both been charged with Child Endangerment Causing Bodily Injury, a Class D Felony.
As a reminder, a criminal charge is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
