Ottumwans that are looking to serve on a board or commission will have multiple opportunities to explore.

The City of Ottumwa issued a press release that listed committees with openings.

The Historic Preservation Commission had two current vacancies. Commissioners, who serve a three year term, would help to promote and safeguard the city’s historical and cultural significance.

There is presently one opening in the Public Safety Advisory Committee. Members of this board will serve three year terms and will review requests concerning traffic regulations and make requests to the City Council.

The City stresses that individuals selected to serve these vacancies will require a “commitment of time and effort.”

The Mayor will select the appointees and the choices will be approved by City Council. Anyone interested can pick up an application at the Mayor’s Office.
