An Oskaloosa man was arrested after authorities say he used a stolen check to take money from a victim in February.
According to court documents, 34-year-old Justin Jordan went to a credit union on Richmond Avenue in Ottumwa and wrote a stolen check to himself using the victim’s name. The check was for $1,000.
Ottumwa police say video surveillance captured Jordan depositing the money into his own bank account.
A warrant for Jordan’s arrest was issued on March 30th and he was taken into custody on July 16th.
Jordan has been charged with forgery and identity theft, both Class D felonies.
Jordan is currently in the Wapello County Jail where the bond has been set at $10,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 23rd.
