Oskaloosa Cop Fired After Domestic Incident

By Ellis Codjoe, May 17, 2018

The only female officer in the Oskaloosa Police Department was fired last week following a domestic arrest from earlier this month.

According to multiple reports, 25 year old Janay Pritchett allegedly kicked her girlfriend in the chest, cut her cheek with a pocket knife and threatened her with a shotgun on May 3rd.

Pritchett’s girlfriend also mentioned that she retreated to a closet when Pritchett threatened to kill her. She told police that she feared for her life.

The former law enforcement officer was arrested and charged with two counts of domestic abuse assault and harassment. She was released after posting a $4,000 bond.

Pritchett argued that she did not pull a knife and didn’t know how her girlfriend received the laceration on her cheek. She did admit that the two women were pushing, grabbing and wrestling.

Pritchett is a graduate of William Penn University with a degree in criminal justice. She was hired as a full time officer in 2016.
