OHS to Feature Secured Entrance

The Ottumwa Community School District announced an upgrade to the security at the high school.

Starting Monday, January 20, visitors will no longer be able to walk in and out of the 4th Street entrance at Ottumwa High School during school hours. The doors will automatically lock at 8:25 AM and will remain locked until 3:15 PM.

Anyone wishing to enter the building during school hours must show identification before being buzzed in. After they sign in, the visitor will be escorted to their destination.

The district says every Ottumwa school now has a secure entrance. During the school day, every entrance at every school will be locked.
