OHS Boys Golf: Off to State

The Ottumwa High boys golf team is headed to the Class 4A state tournament. The Bulldogs needed to finish as one of the top three teams in their district tournament in Bettendorf on Monday, and posted a team score of 305 to finish in second place.

Senior Trey Thomas led OHS by shooting a 72, which was good enough for second place among all golfers at the district meet. With the top four scores out of the Bulldogs’ six golfers counting towards the team score, Bron Bjerke carded a 76, Wyatt Crosby totaled 78 andHunter Nelson shot a 79, leading Ottumwa to state qualification.

It’ll be a fairly quick turnaround for the Bulldogs. The state meet takes place this Friday and Saturday, at the Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City. Round one on Friday begins at 10:30 in the morning, while round two on Saturday starts at 9:00 in the morning. Like the district tournament, Ottumwa will have six golfers in the field. The top four scores from each day will count towards the team total.
