On Thursday, Appanoose County Public Health reported two deaths due to COVID-19 with more additional positive cases.
The deceased are both individuals over the age of 81. Over the past three days, health officials have reported 19 deaths in the county with every victim over 61 years of age. 23 residents have died from the virus since the onset of the pandemic.
Centerville Specialty Care and Golden Age Care Center have both seen Covid outbreaks according to the Iowa Department of Public Health, although current data regarding active cases, deaths, and recoveries are not available. Health officials say there have been outbreaks in 114 facilities statewide.
25 additional positive cases were reported by Appanoose County Public. There are 421 active cases in the county. To date, a total of 671 residents tested positive for the virus, 227 individuals have recovered.
