New sign coming to Central Park

There could be a new addition to central Park in Ottumwa.  When the Ottumwa City council meets in regular session tomorrow evening at 6:30 in the council chamber of City Hall, it will consider a departmental recommendation to purchase an electric sign for Central Park.

Two bids were received for the new electronic display sign.  Champion Sign company of Oskaloosa submitted a bid of 14-thousand, 486-dollars, while Cobler Sign and Graphics submitted a price of 14-thousand, 850 dollars.

Because of the 3-percent local preference ordinance, the bid should be awarded to cobbler sign.  Signtronix was also invited to bid on the project but did not respond.

When installed, the sign will replace the manual 4×8 manual sign boards in Central Park.  This project was funded b y a 15-thousand dollar grant from the Fahrney Foundation.  The sign will be installed by city employees.
