Davis County’s five seniors made up the top five of the Mustang lineup in Thursday’s Senior Night contest versus South Central Conference foe Clarke and the quintet made an impact right away.
Caedyn Glosser (triple), Dawson Townsend (RBI single), Dalton Reeves (double), Easton White (RBI single), and Carson Maeder (RBI single) each collected a hit in the bottom of the first inning, setting the table for what would be a five-run frame. The Mustangs did not look back and scored in every inning in a 16-2 win over Clarke in five innings.
Entrusted with the starting pitcher’s role, White was the beneficiary of all the offensive support. White earned his first win of the season by allowing two runs on eight hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out eight.
Glosser, Reeves, White, Nolan Cremer, and Aidan Fowler had two hits. The Mustangs pounded out 12 hits as a team.
Davis County (15-8, 9-3 South Central Conference) is scheduled to resume its suspended doubleheader at Albia on Friday. Action will resume in the fourth inning of Game 1 with the Mustangs leading the Blue Demons 5-3.
