Davis County’s bats stayed hot and Kaleb Wagler turned in a strong start on the mound as the Mustangs took down South Central Conference rival Albia 6-3 in Bloomfield Tuesday night.

Davis County opened the scoring in the 2nd inning with a five-run outburst, sending 10 men to the plate. For the second straight game, the Mustangs banged out 10 hits.

Wagler took care of the rest by tossing six innings and allowing just three hits. The three runs scored on him were unearned. Wagler also struck out eight while walking three.

Noah Zmolek pitched a scoreless 7th inning to earn the save and secure Davis County’s second straight win after starting the season 0-3.

The Mustangs’ home stand continues Wednesday night with a visit from Mount Pleasant.
