(Written by Chris Jackson) The Lady Mustangs earned a hard-fought victory last night to extend their winning streak to 8
consecutive games. The Lady Mustangs defeated Chariton by a score of 2-0.

The game between 2 of the top teams in the conference played out much as it was expected to.
Layne Braby, the pitcher for Chariton was able to keep the Lady Mustang hitters off balance for the first
4 innings of the ball game. Braby made a couple of mistakes in the bottom of the 5th as she led off the
inning putting Jalee Lough on base on a hit-by-pitch. After a sacrifice bunt from Macy Hill moved Lough
to 2nd, Sophia Young provided the offensive fireworks for the Lady Mustangs. She deposited the first
pitch from Braby deep over the left-field fence for a 2 run home run. That was all the runs the Madeline
Barker needed on the night. Chariton continued to put runners on base against the Lady Mustang hurler,
but they could never break through with a run because of the pitching of Barker and the defense of the
Lady Mustangs. Barker finished the night with a victory and recorded her 11th strikeout of the ballgame
to end the game.

The Lady Mustangs improved to 9-1 overall (4-0 in South Central Conference) Chariton falls to 8-1 (3-1 South
Central Conference)
