Two men were hurt and several vehicles were damaged after a chain-reaction accident near Mount Pleasant’s town square on Monday night.
Authorities say 37-year-old Douglas Adams of Mount Pleasant was driving west on Monroe Street behind a vehicle driven by Dale Beckham, a local business owner.
Adams reportedly experienced a medical episode, failed to stop at a stop sign, and rammed into Beckham’s vehicle. The crash pushed Beckham’s vehicle into two parked cars.
The car driven by Adams continued west, striking three more legally parked vehicles before finally coming to a stop.
Beckham had to be mechanically extracted from his vehicle. He was transported via ambulance to Henry County Hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Adams told medical personnel at the scene of the accident that he was in pain but refused any medical treatment.
Adams was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to obey a stop sign.
