Morris Placed on Administrative Leave

By Ellis Codjoe, August 21, 2019

Andy Morris, Ottumwa’s City Administrator has been placed on administrative leave as first reported by the Ottumwa Courier.

Morris told Ottumwa Radio News he was asked to visit with Mayor Tom Lazio and City Council Member Marc Roe after Tuesday night’s city council meeting. Morris was informed that the city wanted to move in a different direction.

Tuesday night marked the end of Morris’ second tenure as City Administrator. His first time in office lasted just over a year from July 2006 until his resignation in August 2007.

Morris returned to The City of Bridges as City Administrator in November 2015.

Morris says he will look back fondly on his time in Ottumwa.

“My wife and I enjoyed our time here. We still plan on donating to all the great causes we became familar with while we lived here. But it’s time for them to move on and for me to move on as well.”

The city of Ottumwa has not revealed its plans to replace Morris. Councilman Roe had no comment when contacted by Ottumwa Radio News. Calls to Mayor Lazio were not returned at the time of publication.
