Ottumwa Police responded to a 911 call from John Deere Ottumwa Works this Morning around 6:25 AM. A victim, apparently shot in the head on Madison Avenue, was brought to the John Deere Ottumwa Works, then taken to the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
Details are rather sketchy at this time, and no names are available as yet. Apparently, a John Deere Worker had just left the Riverside Restaurant, and was traveling on Mary Street to Madison, where he observed a person being chased by another person. The person being chased asked for a ride in the driver’s truck, and jumped in the back of the truck. The driver then noticed that the man was bleeding, and it looked as if the victim had been shot in the head.
The victim was taken to the John Deere Ottumwa Works, and Police were called. The victim was then transported to the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
Ironically, according to reports, the shooter was apprehended shoplifting at the Quik Shop in South Ottumwa.
No word as yet on names of those involved, or the condition of the victim.
