More Fishing Opportunities Being Brought to Ottumwa

The Ottumwa Park Department is making good on plans to better the fishing in Ottumwa Park ponds by trout stocking the waters Friday, October 26.

A partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) including the Fisheries Bureau. They have been trout stocking ponds and lakes in urban areas for thirty years, according to the press release from the City of Ottumwa.

At 11 a.m. the DNR will stock 2,000 rainbow and brook trout in the pond beside the orange and blue playground equipment. The pond is located on the east side of Wapello Street.

There is a five per day limit on the fish along with a possession limit of ten. All Iowa fishing regulations apply to this pond and must be followed. There is no fishing derby for this stocking.
