A Wednesday night accident in Davis County claimed the life of a Montezuma man.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Chevy Silverado driven by 79-year-old Micheal Floyd Talbert was traveling southbound on Highway 63 at approximately 7:22 PM. The pickup truck was pulling a recreational camper. A semi tractor-trailer was traveling northbound on the same highway.

The accident report states for some unknown reason, the Silverado crossed the center line and into the northbound lanes. 47-year-old Steven Roloson of Central City, the driver of the semi, swerved onto the shoulder to avoid the Silverado.

The driver’s side of the Silverado struck the semi on the side, destroying the camper in the process. The semi crossed the southbound lanes and came to rest on the west side of the road.

Talbert suffered fatal injuries in the accident.

Roloson was not injured.
