The Ottumwa Library now has mobile wi-fi hotspots available for patrons to check out, according to a press release.
The mobile hotspot devices are part of an effort by the Ottumwa Library to bridge the gap between those in the community with access to the internet and those without. The devices will work anywhere and will allow devices such as laptops, smartphones and tablets to connect to the internet.
Due to the expected high demand and the financial investment required to provide the devices to the public, additional check out procedures and policies will be put in place, as well as a borrower agreement form. The borrower must be at least 18 years of age to check out one of the devices. The check-out period will be one week with an option to renew up to two times.
Those interested in borrowing one of the devices should call ahead to arrange for a check out or to be put on the waiting list. More information is available by calling (641) 682-7563.
