Mary Lou Moffit, 92, of Blakesburg, died at 11:55 a.m. April 26, 2021 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born October 29, 1928 in rural Bladensburg, IA to Fred and Mabel Black Heston. She married Willis “Bill” Franklin Moffit May 25, 1947 and he preceded her in death December 1, 2010.
A graduate of Agency High School, Mary was a homemaker and farmed with her husband. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren on the farm where she lived for 72 years.
She was a member of the Christianburg United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, serving as treasurer for both. She was a member of Knit Wits and enjoyed square dancing alongside her husband, Bill. She loved helping with 4-H while her children were growing up, gardening, mowing the yard and canning.
Surviving are her children, Terry (Connie) Moffit of McHenry, IL, Randy (Pam) Moffit of Newton and Melinda “Mindy” (Jim) Fisher of Blairstown; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Ryan, Jeremiah, Carrie, Joshua, Elizabeth, Andrew, Mandy, Nick and Noah; 17 great-grandchildren, Alexander Willis, Maggie, Lauryn, Analise, Colton, Camden, Ella, Nolan, Thaddaeus, Aletheia, Asher, Leonidas, Easton, Emelia, Eva, Eleanor and Hunter; and a sister, Carolyn Snyder of Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leonard Heston; and sisters, Helen Shelangoski and Lois Parker.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, April 30th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1st at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Ellis officiating. For those unable to attend the service, you may watch it live on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Chisman Cemetery.
