Mary Hancock

Mary L. Hancock, of Ottumwa died October 13, 2018 at the Haven.

She was born July 18, 1931 in Bloomfield to Glen and Lela Waggoner Cameron.  She married Archie Ballew November 27, 1947 and he preceded her in death December 17, 1997.   She married Frank M. Hancock July 29, 2000 and he preceded her in death May 12, 2018.

Mary worked for Whitaker Cleaners and as a nurse’s aide at Davis County Hospital.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Sweet Adelines.

Surviving are two daughters, Brinda (Larry) Young of Ottumwa and Felicia (Mike) Wyrick of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Kim (Vicky) Ballew of Phoenix, AZ and Brian (Connie) Ballew of Ottumwa; grandchildren, Wes, Shelley, Lindsay, Ben, Jon, Rose, Josh, Nate, Alex and Connor; 9 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gary (Nan) Cameron of Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Opal Cameron; two sisters, Betty Smith and Lorraine Needham; two brothers, Raymond and Paul Cameron; and a granddaughter, Becky Young.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Mel Kendall and her grandson,  Pastor Nate  Young officiating.  Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
