By Ellis Codjoe, August 17, 2017

A Cedar Rapids man has been arrested in Ottumwa, accused of sexually abusing a young girl.

Wapello County Sheriff Deputies arrested 33-year-old Chad Robert Houk on Tuesday. Houk’s last known address is in Cedar Rapids.

Houk was arrested on an outstanding warrant for 2nd-degree sexual abuse. He was charged late last month after investigators with the Ottumwa Police Department took a complaint alleging Houk had inappropriate contact with a female under the age of 12.

He is accused of touching a young girl on the vagina on multiple occasions between 2012 and 2015.

Ottumwa Police Lieutenant Jason Bell says Houk allegedly went into the girl’s bedroom at nighttime to commit the abuse. He didn’t comment on what relationship he may have had with the victim.

Houk pleaded not guilty during an initial appearance on Wednesday. He is currently in the custody of the Wapello County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.

Second Degree Sexual Abuse is a class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
