PLEASANT HILL, IA – In their fifth tournament in the past week, the Ottumwa Bulldogs golf team finished eighth at Wednesday’s Southeast Polk Invitational at Copper Creek Golf Course in Pleasant Hill. Ottumwa finished the 18-hole Invite with a team score of 332. Ankeny High won the tournament with a team score of 293, 15 strokes ahead of the host Rams in second.
Junior Cale Leonard finished tied for first with two other golfers in the individual standings with a round of 71. He was named Runner-Up based on his back 9 performance. Senior Joe Hammer followed with a 76 to earn 11th place in the standings. Other individual scores for the Bulldogs include junior Trent Grooms with a round of 89, senior Thomas Mitchell carding a 96, senior Jackson Saunders finishing with a 105, and senior Mitch Wood with a 109.
Ottumwa now has a full week off before returning to the links for their final regular season meet at Spirit Hollow in Burlington next Thursday, October 1. That will be the final tune up for the Bulldogs prior to the District Tournament October 5 at Glynns Creek in Long Grove.
