League of Women Voters to Hold Two Candidate Forums


With the general election less than a month away, Ottumwa voters have a couple of opportunities to hear candidates address various issues.

The Ottumwa League of Women Voters has scheduled two forums in the coming weeks. Thursday, October 17 is the first forum featuring Ottumwa City Council candidates. It will be held at the City Council Chambers at City Hall starting at 7:00 PM. Candidates Wes Crowder, Bob Meyers, Mark Peters, and Marc Roe are expected to attend. The public can submit questions for the city council hopefuls to answer during the forum which is expected to last an hour.

The second forum will bring the 15 Ottumwa School Board candidates into the spotlight. The gathering will take place Thursday, October 24 in the auditorium of Evans Middle School starting at 7:00 PM. The four-term candidates are: Michael Bower, Morgan Brown, Jon Bunt, Christopher Cruz, Joseph Gevok, Brian Jones, Aaron Luke, Christina Schark, Kent Walker, Leisa Walker, and David Weilbrenner.

The two-term candidates are: Sarah Sels, Krista Tedrow, and Jeremy Weller. All the candidates have been invited to attend.

Both forums are open to the public and free of charge.

The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 5.
