Lavetta Buchholz, 92, of Ottumwa, died July 20, 2020 at her home.
She was born March 14, 1928 in Ottumwa to Raymond and Vera Black McDaniel. She married Walter “Bud” Buchholz March 16, 1947 and he preceded her in death June 17, 2020.
Before graduating from Ottumwa High School in 1946, Lavetta worked for JCPenney and Hoffman Drug. After attending Ottumwa Heights College, she worked for Standard Kollsman, 8 years for Card & Camera, and 2 years for West End Drug.
Lavetta was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and a lifetime member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving is her daughter, Cindy Woodbury of Ottumwa; a grandson, Brady Buchholz; 7 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-
grandchildren; 2 brothers-in-law, Dean Buchholz of Ft. Myers, Florida and Harold Russel of Drakesville; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; her son, Brad A. Buchholz; sisters, Louise Dorch and Doris Craft; and brothers, Donald “Hank” McDaniel and Donald Denny.
Her body has been cremated. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 2 to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
