Ottumwa residents that desire a larger recycling bins can now purchase one, according to the Solid Waste Commission.
Recycling Coordinator Janice Bain told Ottumwa Radio News that the city of Ottumwa received a series of grants that paid for the blue bins that some residents possess but there are no more available.
Any new recycling bin that is bought cannot exceed 35 gallons. It can be any color but it must marked so it is identifiable as a recycling receptacle.
Residents are reminded that only paper is to be bagged and should be the last item placed in the bin. Glass, tin and aluminum don’t need to be placed in a bag.
