Janet Ilene White Pratt, 81, of rural Keosauqua, departed this life on January 30, 2015 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL. She was born February 22, 1933 at Bonaparte to Rollo H. and Helen C. McComb White. She married Darrell D. Pratt on May 1, 1955 in Bonaparte, IA. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2005.
She grew up in Bonaparte and graduated from Bonaparte High School. She worked at White’s Shopping Center with her folks and on the Pratt family farm in the Harrisburg Township in Van Buren County. She attended Bonaparte Baptist Church and Harrisburg Baptist Church and was member of Stockport Chapter No. 544, Order of Eastern Star. Janet had a passion for family history and chronicling their genealogy. She loved wildlife, including the neighborhood cats; best remembered by family for her homemade waffles and animated stories.
Survivors include one son, Dennis Pratt of Knoxville, IA; five daughters: Dena Pratt of Dexter, IA, Diana Howe of Mukilteo, WA, Darcy Pratt of Woodinville, WA, Dee Auxier of Aurora, IL, Deborah Van Dorin of St. Charles, IL; five granddaughters: Kelly Pratt, Lisa Howe, Laura Kimball, Amanda Van Dorin, and Allison Van Dorin; and two great-grandsons, Lucius and Julian Howe, two sisters, Patricia Joan Heminger of Paducah, KY, and Anita King of Macon, MO.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 9, 2015 at Bonaparte Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Caston officiating. Visitation with family present will be from 2-4 P.M. Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, followed by an Eastern Star Service by Stockport Chapter No. 544. Burial will be in Dibble Cemetery, south of Stockport.
