Jack Donovan Fuller Sr., 88, of Ottumwa, passed away at his home peacefully at 3 p.m. October 23, 2022.

He was born January 11, 1934 in Ottumwa to Donovan P. and Gertrude A. Fleer Fuller. Jack married Shirley L. McKim on December 24, 1953.

Jack was a graduate of Ottumwa High School and served in the United States Navy on the USS WASP aircraft carrier from 1955-57.

He was employed at John Morrell & Co. until 1973 and then at the City of Agency. He was instrumental in the very first stages of Wapello Rural Water until his retirement. Jack Sr. and his wife, Shirley, founded Fuller Monument in 1993 and now it is owned by their son, Jack Fuller Jr.

He was a member of Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #21 A.F. & A.M. in Agency. He was well-known as “Chicken Jack” as a member of the Ottumwa Shrine Clown Unit. He shared a connection with his “brother” clowns like no other.

Jack enjoyed life to the fullest. Throughout his life, many people were touched by his humor, kindness and love for others. He was not stingy with his love for others as his wonderful caregivers can attest. He enjoyed woodworking as also did his father, always building projects for family, friends and sharing his knowledge.

Surviving is his wife, Shirley; their daughters, Loraine (Brady) Kern of Ottumwa, Felicia Fuller of Ottumwa, Terri (Terry) Cloke of Bondurant and Son, Jack Jr. (Alulu) Fuller of Ottumwa. Jack was known as “Grampi” to his 7 grandchildren whom he loved and cherished as well as to his 11 great-grandchildren. He immensely enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren and watching them play sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marilyn Brooke and grandson, Chad Stevens.

He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Visitation will be open at 11 a.m. Friday, October 28th, at Reece Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday followed by the family greeting friends until 7:30 p.m. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 29th, at Reece Funeral Home with Chaplain Doug McAntire officiating. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military honors conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
