Iowa State junior forward Georges Niang was named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top-25, as announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

The Wooden Award presented by Wendy’s is given annually to the nation’s best college basketball player. Niang was chosen by a poll of national college basketball experts based by his performance in the first half of the 2014-15 season.

A native of Metheun, Mass., Niang is the top scorer (15.2) for the 11th-rated Cyclones, ranking fifth in the Big 12 in points per game. He also averages 5.5 boards and 3.6 assists as one of only 15 players nationally to average over 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

Niang is also on the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List and was a preseason All-Big 12 First-Team selection.

Niang, who was a Big 12 Third-Team selection a year ago, ranks 23rd all-time in career scoring at Iowa State with 1,202 points.
