Pending board approval, the Ottumwa Community School District has named a new interim principal the Pickwick Early Childhood Center.
Kelli Phillips, a staff member of the district since 2009, was tabbed for the new role. According to Ottumwa Schools, Phillips first served as a first grade teacher at Agassiz and Douma Elementary before transitioning to a leadership role. Phillips has been a curriculum and instructional leader since 2016.
Phillips earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Central College, a master’s degree in education with a focus on literacy and MTSS from Morningside, and her administrative degree from Viterbo University.
In a statement, Phillips says she’s eager to start her new role.
“I’m excited to work with our youngest learners and help them to prepare for elementary school,” Phillips said. “We will continue to collaborate to make their transitions successful.”
Phillps is expected to start as Pickwick’s principal in August. The district’s first day of the 2021-2022 school year is August 23rd.
