An Indiana motorist was killed after his car wedged underneath a garbage truck on Highway 63 Friday afternoon.
The Iowa State Patrol says around 4:30 PM, the garbage truck, driven by 24-year-old Michael Ross Blum of Rose Hill, was traveling eastbound on 310th Street in Mahaska County. The truck failed to yield at the Highway 63 cross over and a northbound Chevy Malibu, driven by 58-year-old Randolph Beaty of Amboy, Indiana, struck passenger side of the garbage truck.
According to the accident report, the Malibu was pinned under the rear axle of the garbage truck. Beaty died from injuries sustained in the crash. Beaty was not wearing a seat belt.
56-year-old Jeffery Davis of Fort Wayne, Indiana was also injured in the crash and transported to a hospital where his status is unknown.
Blum was not injured in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
