Indian Hills will start the new season with a No. 17 national ranking. It’s the 7th year in a row the Warriors have been included in the NJCAA preseason poll. The last time IHCC entered the year unranked was 2009-10.
Last year the Warriors got a No. 7 preseason spot and ended the year 29-5 and made the school’s 12th trip to the national tournament, and third in a row.
Heading into the 2016-17 campaign, the top-ranked teams are Northwest Florida State in Division I, Kirkwood in DII and Rock Valley in DIII. Kirkwood and Rock Valley are both defending national champs and Indian Hills will play both in the upcoming season. The Warriors will battle Kirkwood home-and-away and play at Rock Valley.
IHCC has nine teams who are ranked or received votes on its schedule. They will play two games against both Kirkwood and Moberly (No. 11 in DI). The Warriors are also slated to meet Daytona State (12th in DI), Vincennes (22nd in DI), and Southwestern (11th in DII). Of the schools receiving votes, but not rated in their divisions, Indian Hills will face DI Northestern Oklahoma as well as DII teams Iowa Lakes and John Wood.
Indian Hills begins the year with a home contest against Carl Sandburg on Nov. 3.
