Hy-Vee Online Delivery Partnerships Won’t Hit Small Towns

By Aaryn Frazier, July 10, 2018

Hy-Vee announced they were broadening their online grocery delivery services throughout Iowa, but they will be focusing on the Quad Cities for now.

They will be partnering with Shipt and Instacart to expand deliveries and provide more

convenient shopping options. Matt Ludwig, Hy-Vee’s chief information officer and executive vice president of e-commerce, said the company is excited to provide even more same-day delivery options.

“As online grocery marketplaces experience rapid growth, Hy-Vee is matching pace to provide our customers a variety of personalized grocery delivery options,” said Ludwig. “With 245 stores across an eight-state region, Hy-Vee is always looking to meet customers’ needs. Instacart and Shipt were a natural fit as more Hy-Vee shoppers look for same-day delivery options.”

Unfortunately, the expanded services will not be making it to Ottumwa or other small towns for awhile yet. Amy McCoy, Hy-Vee communications director, said the partnership isn’t on the list for small towns currently, but to check back in the fall.

“It is mainly in the Quad Cities right now,” McCoy said. “We are focused in larger markets currently.”
