Davis County’s baseball team will be moving to a new facility next year but they were able to win one last time in their old home on Thursday night.
Caden Hill pitched five scoreless innings and Carson Maeder’s two run double in the 4th inning proved to be the game-winner in Davis County’s 5-3 win over Keokuk in their regular season finale.
Hill allowed one hit, walked two, and struck out seven.
The Mustangs led 5-0 after four innings and had to stave off a late Keokuk charge. Dalton Reeves relieved Hill and allowed three runs in the 6th inning but was able to pitch a scoreless 7th inning to preserve the Davis County victory.
The Mustangs finish the regular season at 5-7. Davis County receives a bye in the district quarterfinals. The Mustangs will play on Tuesday in the district semifinals in Eddyville against the winner of Saturday’s game between Cardinal and Pella Christian.
