Gregory Eugene McDanel, age 60, of Centerville, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.
Greg was born on August 11, 1961 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Larry McDanel and Marilyn Rose (Tracy) Oswalt. He graduated from Centerville High School. On July 1, 1989, Greg was united in marriage to Kathy Lee Matherly in Centerville, Iowa. To this union, two children were born, Kasandra and Samantha.
After high school graduation, Greg began working in the oil fields in Oklahoma for a few years. He then moved back to Iowa, and started working for Young Radiator. He worked there for a period of time before accepting a job at C&C Machining. Greg has worked at C&C for over 20 years.
Greg was a member of the Solid Rock Church of God in Centerville. He thoroughly loved anything to do with being outdoors. Greg was fond of hunting, fishing, camping and smoking meat. His favorite times of the day was watching the Sunset and Sunrise.
Left to honor Greg’s memory are his wife of almost 33 years, Kathy McDanel; his father, Larry (Linda) McDanel; his daughters, Kasandra McDanel of Centerville and Samantha (Thomas) Sager of Centerville; four grandchildren, Isabela Sager, Cadence Sager, Blayne Sager and Scarlett Sager; two brothers, David (LaVada) McDanel and Mark (Shelley) McDanel; a sister, Shannon (Tim) Starr; nieces and nephews, Kaylin McDanel, Luke McDanel, Travis McDanel, Rosemary McDanel, Elizabeth (Justin) Bullard, Tyler Starr and Jacob Starr; as well as several in-laws, extended family members and friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Rose Oswalt; maternal grandparents, Ben and Iza Tracy; paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Esther McDanel; and a sister-in-law, Laura McDanel.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30AM, Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Solid Rock Church of God in Centerville with Pastor Tony Angran officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will take place Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 5-7PM.
