Since 2014, Centerville has gotten the better of Davis County in their annual rivalry. In the 2020 edition, the Mustangs were able to turn the tables.
Caedyn Glosser caught two touchdown passes and snagged two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, in Davis County’s 28-19 win over Centerville to bring the Pennant back to Bloomfield.
The Mustangs set the tone from the opening kickoff with a 16 play, 64 yard clock devouring drive that ended with a two yard touchdown run by Gavin McCall. The series took 9:08 off the clock.
Centerville quarterback Sawyer Wardlow threw a pair of interceptions on the first two drives of the game. Glosser returned the second interception for a touchdown to give Davis County a 14-0 lead.
After Centerville cut the lead to 14-7 in the second quarter, Davis County quarterback Carson Maeder connected with Glosser on a 30-yard strike for a touchdown with just over a minute left until halftime. After the Mustang offense grabbed another interception, Maeder hit Glosser again from 12 yards out to put Davis County up 28-7.
The Mustangs forced six turnovers on defense while not turning over the ball on offense.
Davis County will be back in action next Friday versus Albia at Mustang Stadium.
