Fred C. Gemoules, 94, of Ottumwa, died at 9 a.m. June 13, 2022 at Vista Woods Care Center.

He was born December 3, 1927 in Edwardsville, IL to Louis and Christina Anna Kosten Gemoules. Fred married Audrey Snyder on June 2, 1950 and she preceded him in death on October 4, 2016.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving just after World War II.

Fred was a graduate of Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, IL, of Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL and of St. John’s Hospital School of Technology.

He was Chief Medical Technologist at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, WI, Chief Medical Technologist at Ottumwa Hospital and for 19 years was the Clinical Laboratory Director for Dr. Dale Emerson, retiring in 1992.

Fred was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he had served as a deacon and usher and also a member of Ottumwa Masonic Lodge #16 A.F. & A.M.

Surviving is his son, Craig Gemoules of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Gemoules; siblings, Raymond, Ahillie, George, John, Peter, James and Louis Gemoules and Sophia Dandin.

Visitation will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 19th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 20th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Hornback officiating. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed live on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery with military honors conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

A memorial has been established to Multiple Myeloma Foundation or Alzheimer’s Association.
