Farmington Wraps Up Strawberry Festival

By Ellis Codjoe, June 10, 2018

Sunday marked the final day of the Farmington’s Strawberry Festival.

The event, which lasted all weekend, featured music, vendors, games, activities for kids, food, and much more.

Sunday featrured the Kenny Hamburg Memorial Car Show. Dozens of cars lined the streets of downtown Farmington as onlookers strolled by to admire the work those who participated.

The main draw was free ice cream and strawberries that was served on Saturday and Sunday afternoon (courtesy of the Farmington Arts Council). With the temperature hovering around 90 degrees on Sunday, the aforementioned treats were a welcome respite.

As one can imagine, the lines for ice cream and strawberries were lengthy but those wanting to cool off did not have to wait long. Fast working volunteers kept the lines moving.

The Strawberry Festival is held on the second weekend of June every year in Farmington. One of the organizers, Rob Denly, appeared last week on Mid Morning Magazine on KBIZ. Denly mentioned that it’s an event that gets bigger every year. Iowans will have to wait until next June to see how big next year’s Strawberry Festival may be.
