Family dog shot and killed

(Ottumwa)— The Ottumwa Police Department’s animal control officer Jeff Williams is asking for the public’s help in determining how a family dog was shot and killed.

In today’s edition of the Ottumwa Courier, it’s reported the Randy Davis family adopted a chocolate lab dog from the Heartland Humane society in Ottumwa. The adoption was suppost to be temporary, but the family immediately fell in love with the dog named Barney.

Sometime Wednesday evening as  Barney was let outside in the Davis’ fenced in back yard………it apparently was shot by someone.

Davis says his family would like to know why and who caused this tragedy.

Anyone with information about the dog is asked to contact animal control officer Jeff Williams
