Eldon Man Indicted on Child Porn Charges

By Jason Van Arkel, September 19, 2019

The Eldon man arrested last month for possessing child pornography has now been formally charged, after a federal grand jury handed down three indictments last week.

Troy Davis faces federal charges of receipt, possession and transportation of child pornography. Wapello County sheriff’s deputies arrested him on August 20th on a U.S. Marshall’s warrant, acting on a tip given to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Authorities say Davis has admitted to sending and receiving images of child pornography, and a search of Davis’ social media accounts revealed multiple graphic images of young boys.

Court documents say Davis was in possession of several pornographic images, including some of children under the age of 12. Davis is also already a registered sex offender. In 1998, he pleaded guilty in Wapello County court to two counts of lascivious acts with a child.

Last month, federal judge Celeste Bremer ruled that Davis could not receive a pretrial release. Davis has yet to enter a plea in the case.

As a reminder, a criminal charge is only an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
