Eddie Paris

Eddie L. “Fast Eddie” Paris, 77, of Ottumwa, died July 5, 2018 at his home.

He was born October 12, 1940 in Belknap, IA to Lewis “Bud” and Alta Faye Post Paris.  He married Janice Eileen LaRue on May 20, 1960 and she preceded him in death on April 18, 1995.

A 1958 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Eddie had worked for Anderson Service Station, Harter Oil Company,  and was a mechanic for 40 years   for Lowenberg Bakery and Trausch & Metz Baking, retiring in 1995.

Eddie was a member of Teamsters Local #137.  He enjoyed coaching girls’ softball and rebuilding antique cars.  He owned his own race car and enjoyed going to the races.

Surviving are his children, Tammy (Gary) Whittington, Todd Paris and Tony (Linda) Paris all of Ottumwa; 3 grandchildren, John Wayne Whittington, Brett Alan Whittington and Tyson Lewis-Dean Paris; 4 great-grandchildren, Nicole Whittington, Kaden Whittington, Lexus Whittington and Bentley Whittington; a sister, Carol Joy Paris of Bloomfield; and a companion, Gloria Buckallew of Lancaster, MO.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister and an infant brother and brother, Ronald Jay Paris.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Griffith officiating.  Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be made to the family.
