EBF Holds Off Davis County, Spoils Senior Night


BLOOMFIELD, IA – EBF spoiled the home team’s Senior Night by opening the game with three runs in the top of the 1st inning. The Rockets led throughout and withstood a Davis County rally in the late innings to down the Mustangs 11-8 Monday night at the Davis County Fairgrounds.

EBF senior lead off hitter Kalen Walker reached base four times (single, double, two walks), stole three bases including a swipe of home in the first inning, and scored four runs for the Rockets. EBF improved to 8-3 on the season and top the South Central Conference with a 4-1 mark.

Trailing 11-4 going into the 6th inning, Davis County mounted a rally. Clay Collier led off the inning with a solo home run, his first of the season. After Dawson Townsend got on base with a base hit, Noah Zmolek connected on his first homer of the season. Gavin McCall then singled and later came around to score on an RBI single by Dalton Reeves to make it 11-8.

Rocket hurler Jared McCrea then entered the game and threw a scoreless 7th inning to secure the victory for EBF.

Davis County falls to 3-5 on the year, 2-3 in the South Central Conference. The Mustangs will be back in action Tuesday night in Fort Madison.
